The state of Coahuila and Tejas Flag ; Fully Sewn Heavy PolyesterAfter Mexico won its independence from Spain on September, 27th 1821, the United Mexican States was established and the two territories of Coahuila and Tejas were combined into one state ;Coahuila Y Tejas;. The flag was flown by the DeWitt colonists between 1821 and 1836. The two gold stars represent the two territories and the green, white, and red tricolor represents the newly established nation of Mexico. It is also believed that this flag was one of at least three flags that were present at the Battle of the Alamo. The first map (see pictures) shows the modern-day boundaries of the State of Texas and the Mexican State of Coahuila while the shaded areas indicate which Mexican States (Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Tamaulipas) the land that makes up the current state of Texas came from. The second map shows all of the land claimed by the newly formed Republic of Texas as negotiated between Sam Houston and Mexican President Antonio Lopex de Santa Anna after the Texian victory at the Battle of Jan Jacinto, on April 21st, 1836. These were also the boundaries that were accepted as being The Republic of Texas at the time Texas was admitted as the 28th State of the United State of America. The map also shows the modern-day state boundaries as a reference point.This is a reproduction of the Coahuila y Tejas Tricolor Flag, of which there were many produced and likely several different dimensions.
